Stores are opening. Restaurants are opening. It seems life as we once knew it is slowly opening again. I also believe minds are opening and hearts are opening. We humans are funny creatures. On one hand, we spend the majority of our time and energy trying to maintain equilibrium. On the other hand, life outside our equilibrium is what has enabled our species to progress this far.

It reminded me of when I broke off my engagement almost a decade ago. We were living together in a quaint Craftsman bungalow that was half her, half me. The weekend of our split I stayed with a friend so she could move out. When I walked back into the house it was half empty. It stayed that way for nearly six months as I began to put my life back together.
