Spartan Artists
To the naked eye (as well as my own), it can appear like my career experiences are a haphazard mix of art and commerce. A tug-of-war between passion and necessity. Truth be told, for a lot of my life that’s exactly how it felt.
I’ve bounced from law, to tech entrepreneurship, to music, to film like a game of hot potato. Yet with each turn, it never felt misguided. There was always purpose—a deep sense that the transition was necessary. Somehow important in my development as a human.
It never felt like I was quitting or giving up. It felt more like an archaeological dig. Like with each new venture I was discovering a new bone of my own.
Twenty years after setting off to law school, I look back at my dig and notice these bones aren’t random. They’re all part of the same skeleton.
Wherever we are in life, there is always the path ahead and the path behind. Until now, I have almost exclusively focused on the path ahead. Callously letting the path behind me become dusty and overgrown. It never occurred to me that someone else may be trying to follow me, and I was just making it that much harder on them.
On one hand, I feel like my creative career is just beginning. Film and television has awoken the storyteller inside me, and I feel like I have more ideas for stories I want to share than I have years left on this earth. On the other hand, I’ve achieved various things already that others are trying to attain for themselves—like leaving the practice of law to pursue my passions. I’ve learned a lot on my journey already, but I didn’t have the platform by which I could start giving back—until now.
I’m proud to announce a new venture called Spartan Artists. It’s an online community and learning platform designed to give creatives the professional success tools they need to truly succeed in a creative career.
As I continue forward in my own creative career, I’ll learn that much more I can give back to other Spartan Artists. I truly believe that with the right people and tools around you, victory is inevitable.
This new venture even inspired me to write a manifesto that defines my mission and inspires every step along my own journey: READ IT HERE.
If you, or anyone you know, is looking to revolutionize their creative career and walk the inevitable path to success, please fill out the short survey below (it’ll take less than 3 minutes, I promise). It will tell me where you’re getting stuck and what you want to achieve, which will in turn help me turn Spartan Artists into the movement I know it can be.
Thank you!
